I'm a big believer in not panicking when little disasters in life happen like this. My sixteen year old daughter had the same problem and became quite distraught about it, until she finallyaccepted that she couldn't change the situation, that she WAS only sixteen, and that once the trays were replaced she had plenty of time to get the smile she so desired!

If you are lost your invisalign tray what you have to do is that you should immediately contact to your orthodontist. I think it’s a strange loosing invisalign tray because you have been using it 24 hours a day. If you lost it than you should used the previous one for the time being as to bring a better result. Don’t let the results of the treatment fade away and make sure you use it clean and neatly. To have a better smile and perfect teeth we should be very careful to the treatment of your teeth.

One thing is that you should be very careful with your invisalign trays when they are not in your mouth. It is impossible to loose invisalign trays as it spends little time outside your mouth.
Now you have loose it so first thing you have to do is call your orthodontist tell all your problems. Until you get a new aligner, you have to wear the previous one. Wearing old one will slow down the treatment a bit but all are under control. Therefore, you should not misplace your old aligner, as it will be useful when you miss the new one.
Finally, what I want to say is when you loose your aligner it is not the end, it should be replace as soon as possible. Wearing the invisalign as much as possible will help your treatment, if you wear for a longer hour treatment duration will decrease in not you have to wait for a longer durations.

when the invisalign devices go off patent, third party companies may be able to provide close substitutes. hopefully costs will drop by then and losing the trays won't be such a bad problem.

I would contact my orthodontist immediately. You don't want to be irresponsible and let the results of the treatment fade away.

I went 6 months without my tray and then paid the price of another 6 years of treatment.

There's a lesson in that isn't there.
