Ceramic braces can be more discreet than metal braces with the proper attention to cleaning. I’ve heard many people say that they are also more comfortable, though I personally haven’t had both.

As compare to metallic braces, less visible ceramic veneers are much easier to manage and doesn’t look too awkward.

I just can agree to this. Ceramic braces have far more advantages than metal braces. And the costs are significant lower.

Ceramis braces are just like traditional braces, there is just a little difference. Traditional braces are silver and metal but ceramis braces are clear and well, ceramic. Ceramis braces blend into your teeth and are not very nocticable. They are also designed to cause less pain. Most of the patient cannot afford some of the braces so the orthodontist came up with the cereamic braces. It is designed specially as compare with other braces; it does not contain metal it has created from ceramic material color close to teeth. Even though they are costly but still these braces can do a great job in looks too.Its more lasting than other metal.

There are self-ligating ceramic brackets available now (so no more stained ligatures)- Mairead, perhaps your orthodontist is using such a system. And there are also both teflon-coated and even clear archwires, although the latter are only available for the earlier stages of treatment. Most orthodontists would tell you that there is nothing they can achieve with metal brackets that they cannot achieve with ceramics, so they do not represent a compromise really.

The main disadvantage to them is that, being far harder than tooth enamel, ceramic brackets can chip the upper front teeth if used on the lower front teeth where there is a deep bite present. For this reason some orthodontists will not place them on th elower arch. They are also more brittle than metal, so some surgeons will not perform orthognathic surgery with ceramic brackets in place.

i’ve just had ceramic braces on the top teeth, getting the bottom ones this weekend but i have no elastic ligatures. Will the orthodontist be putting these on or in some cases are they not needed?

I have had both braces, ceramic and metal, and i found it more difficult to clean the ceramic one. They were indd longer lasting then the metal.
