Do not go with the Damon system! My daughter just got her damon braces off 2 weeks ago. We have already been back to the ortho twice because teeth are moving(front teeth are crossing, one lower than the other) Retainer has been adjusted twice and now the doc wants to put braces back on! There were warning signs that I ignorned during treatment, ie brackets are always coming off, every single visit, and everytime we are at the ortho there are always multiple kids in the office for broken brackets or poking wires. My daughter actually had to have bands put on the back teeth because the brackets would not stay on. My oldest used traditional braces and had great results, I should not have believed the line of crap that was fed to me about the damon braces, now I will be paying for a second set of braces for my daughter.

Getting Damon in 3 days. Now at first I was ALL for it, and my ortho said that I am a victim of a promo.... but my friends have had Damon and they say it works awesome. My ortho preferred me wearing Inspire Ice, since they are clear and in my city they cost the same as Damon 3 *but not the clear one* honestly I am so confused right now. A couple of things on this forum is making me doubt it. But i cant change my decision,my ortho already ordered a Damon for me. He didnt mention anything too bad about Damon3. all he said was : I dont typically see why Damon is any different than conventional braces. my brother got his braces today, they're conventional. My ortho said he doesnt need any extractions and it takes a year. so I was like "wow"

But again, I think it all depends on YOUR DOCTOR, and YOUR TEETH CONDITION. I am going to go ahead with Damon System. Wish me luck, I have faith in this xD

Our son got damon braces on June 17 2010 and they are coming off this June 29th, approximately 10 months ahead of planned. His overbite has been corrected, his palate and jaw has been expanded, and a tooth that had no hope of coming down properly was in place in less than the first 2 weeks (no extractions). He certainly had a couple of tough times with discomfort as major wire changes took place, but the staff supported him with every tool and technique available and he was able to cope. His friends that do not have this system are furious as they got theirs on before him and have a year to go and they required less changes to their bite. It was expensive, but now the attention will turn to constant and proper use of retainers, which is is happy to do following such a great result. Absolutely no hygene issues (he's 14 and really decided he wanted a great smile) with this system and no chronic problems (avoided foods they told him to avoid). As a parent, I am thrilled and our son feels the effort was worth it a millions times over. Don't hesitate! We had a fabulous practice (Dr. Wolk & Dr. Hoffman, Calgary).

They aren't necessarily better than regular brackets and wires, they are just a bit different. It's an approach that minimizes the appearance of the brackets and takes a little bit less time to achieve the final result.

You really do get what you pay for... The things that you should not get cheap with are: Sunglasses,Shoes, and most importantly your Teeth. Damons is the best you won't regret this investment.

I've had Damon Braces/Archwire on for 7 months now and I have nothing negative to report so far.
Within 4 weeks ALL my crowding was fixed, within 12 weeks my crossbite was fixed.
We just moved a couple brackets to change the height of 2 teeth. It only took 9 hours ( I watched the clock and teeth!) to move them into their new height position.
Within days of taking off the c-chain elastics of my front teeth (upper and lower) I had a 1mm gab between lower canine teeth and incissor next to it.
My tongue position moved into its correct position within 6 months of treatment, I now rest my tongue inside the upper palate and have eliminated all night time clenching and jaw tension.
However, I would love to see some kind of expansion, I keep messuring the distance between pre-molars from left to right and have not gained any more space besides the tipping that was done within the first 8 weeks of treatment.
The c-chain elastics have JUST been removed and I'm hoping now that we're lettings things 'go', maybe the archwire can do what it's designed to do.

I'm on a Primal Diet, I don't eat junk of any kind, made sure my D3 lvls were in check and I'm taking cod liver oil together with high vitamin butter oil and mineral clays. I also drink raw milk and consume bone marrow and bone broths. My Ortho is amazed how FAST things move. All I hear when I have an appointment is "Wow, look at this" " Can you believe this"...and he's done hundreds of cases. My diet is supposed to promote bone remodelling...guess it's working =P.

Good Luck to all of you!

Definitly Damon braces, even if it cost more, but if you cant effort it, you can still get classic. But it depends how much are people willing to spend. Cheers from Slovenia

I am about to choose my brace type and damon has been offered but the treatment time is longer than normal NHS braces? Will it offer a higher standard when they come off?
